I was very surprised to see that Justin Smith (letter to editor Jan. 30) somehow holds Carson Wentz responsible for the bad behavior of the Philadelphia Eagles fans. He wants Carson to either discourage the behavior or apologize? This is ludicrous.
Common sense dictates that it's not his responsibility as a player. Facts are facts, it's not up to him to control the fans. It's as Smith suggests in the first part of his letter, it's the responsibility of the NFL and the police (and the Eagles organization) to get control of the horrible behavior of their fans — not any single player.
I suggest that all Viking fans who experienced the bad behavior at the NFC championship write to the NFL, the Eagles' owner and perhaps the Philadelphia mayor and tell them about their experience with the local fans. Over the years, many pro sports fans have exhibited bad behavior as long as I can remember and it's certainly not any single player's fault. Why not blame players kneeling during the national anthem on Carson? Please give him a break.
