The holiday season is a wonderful time to thank our parents. I am thankful for mine even though they died decades ago. I am glad that I can still honor them by living the way they taught me to live.
Often we fail to be appreciative of what might be called "hidden blessings" that have been provided for us by our parents. It is easy to thank Mom for baking a birthday cake for us or for fixing a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, but who goes around thanking Dad for paying the gas bill? Who says, "Thanks for paying our insurance bill this month?"
Our mothers and fathers do so much for us that is usually taken for granted, and not just them, but our heavenly father, also.
Many thousands of those things go unnoticed. I hope we will ponder some of those hidden blessings at this time and thank the good Lord for what he has provided for us.
