In my letter of Nov. 6 to Sen. John Hoeven and Rep. Kevin Cramer I requested that they support continuance of medical expense deductions. My wife and I, along with thousands of their constituents, depend on that deduction to stave off financial ruin. For us elimination of that deduction will mean bankruptcy within a few years.
Without a doubt, both of them already understood this impact, but if they care at all, supporting the party line means a great deal more. Neither of them honored us with even a form letter response.
Articles in the Dec. 10 Bismarck Tribune agree with and expand on the impact we outlined to them. This affirmation only deepens the pain associated with this outcome. We certainly will remember this issue when visiting the ballot box in years to come, and suggest that the thousands of others similarly affected do so as well.
