To Rep. Kevin Cramer: I am writing to inquire as to why you voted yes on HR 620, a bill that undermines the ADA.
I have a disability from a stroke and am not able to talk, and I have ambulatory issues due to the stroke. The Americans with Disability Act has been essential to my living independently. I had to relearn to drive and I value many protections that the ADA provides such as accessible parking and access to facilities.
The ADA is so important in my life, that I cannot comprehend how you could have possibly supported this Bill. Did you even consult with disability groups before supporting this bill? I would like to know who you consulted with, because those of us most directly affected by this bill, are people with disabilities, and none of us support this bill.
The drive by lawsuits should be addressed by other means besides dismantling the ADA, thus my civil rights.
I am very disappointed in your vote and I want to hear from you why you voted as you did.
