WILLISTON, N.D.  — A collision between a passenger vehicle and a semitrailer in northwestern North Dakota killed three people and injured a fourth.

The Highway Patrol says the westbound vehicle went out of control on U.S. Highway 2 in Williams County about midday Sunday and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes, where it was struck by the semi.

The three people in the vehicle were killed. The patrol identified them as 16-year-old Colton Fischer and 17-year-old Ashley Fischer of Fort Collins, Colo., and 25-year-old Errol Lee of Kingston, Jamaica. The 16-year-old was driving.

The semi driver, 67-year-old Irvan Butler of Springfield, Idaho, suffered unspecified injuries.
