A 60-year-old Dickinson woman died after the truck in which she was a passenger collided with a cargo truck south of New England.

The Highway Patrol identified her as 60-year-old Paulette Meduna.

The patrol said driver of the cargo truck, identified as 54-year-old Mark Maslowski of Mandan, was traveling north on North Dakota Highway 22 at about 5:30 p.m.  Thursday, when he crossed over into the southbound lane directly in front of a pickup.

The driver of the pickup, 61-year-old Charles Meduna, was injured in the crash and transported via ambulance to St Joseph's Hospital. The cargo truck driver was not injured.

Maslowski told police a draft from a passing southbound semi tanker truck had pushed his truck across the shoulder and onto the decline of the asphalt.

The truck driver said he attempted to steer back into the northbound lane, but in the process crossed into the opposite lane toward the west ditch. Authorities said Charles Meduna was towing a fifth-wheel camper and crashed into the back right side of the cargo truck.

Air bags deployed in the pickup and all involved were wearing seat belts. The pickup was totaled.

The crash remains under investigation.
