Jodi Smith

Jodi Smith has been offered the position as commissioner of the North Dakota Department of Trust Lands. Smith was one of three finalists interviewed in the state capitol on Tuesday morning by a five-member board.

The recently named commissioner for the North Dakota Department of Trust Lands began her new job on Monday.

Jodi Smith, selected for the job earlier this month by the Board of University and School Lands, will earn an annual salary of $124,000.

The board finalized Smith’s salary and start date in a conference call meeting last week. Smith, of Bismarck, most recently worked as vice president of the western region for Sanford Health Foundation.

Current commissioner Lance Gaebe, who also was a finalist for the position, is working through Dec. 6, the date of the final Land Board meeting for the year.
