WILLISTON - Mandatory water restrictions in Williston and Watford City were lifted Friday with the clearing of the muddy water caused by heavy rains in the Missouri River drainage.

The mandatory restrictions affected Williston, Watford City, Trenton and rural water systems in Williams and McKenzie counties.

The entities are served by water treated at the Williston treatment plant, which draws from the Missouri River.

However, residents are still asked to voluntarily conserve water by not washing sidewalks, driveways and buildings, taking short showers, washing full loads of laundry and dishes and not filling backyard swimming pools.

Also, residents are asked to alternate lawn and garden watering by watering on even-numbered days if they have an even-numbered house address, and on odd-numbered days if they have an odd-numbered house address.
