A 61-year-old man was killed Thursday after his pickup was struck by an oncoming train about 11 miles northwest of New Rockford.
The Cathay man was driving a 1999 Chevy pickup northbound on 58th Avenue Northwest when he failed to yield for a westbound BNSF train, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol report. The crash occurred at 7:15 a.m. Thursday.
The pickup was struck on its passenger side, which caused it to roll into a ditch north of the train's right-of-way.
The crash remains under investigation. The name of the man killed in the crash is being withheld pending notification of family members.
