Authorities say a Dickinson police officer was justified in shooting a man who pointed a gun at another officer.
Assistant Police Chief Stewart Stenberg says Sgt. Dan Brown "responded professionally and acted appropriately" in the July 8 shooting.
Authorities say 59-year-old Joel Wetzel broke into a home and fired a rifle shot at 56-year-old Arnold Sickler, who was hit in the leg by bullet fragments.
Stenberg says when police arrived, Wetzel pointed his gun at officer Jeremy Moser, and was shot by Brown.
Wetzel spent two weeks in a Bismarck hospital. He is charged with burglary and reckless endangerment.
