MINOT (AP) - Youth games were canceled at a city softball complex Monday so officials could eject two intruders - a pair of moose calves.
"We dropped the fence and headed them in the direction we wanted them to go, and fortunately, they went that way," said Richard Schnell, the Minot police department's animal control officer.
The pair, each weighing more than 800 pounds, headed from the complex to the edge of the city and to the Souris River, Schnell said. "They got into water over by the zoo. Once they finished their bath and cooled off, they left on their own," he said.
Officer got a call about the moose shortly after 7 a.m. Schnell said they were out of the city by about 1:30 p.m.
Schnell said they likely jumped over the fence of the softball complex, or came through the dugout.
