North Dakota's congressional delegation says the state's electric cooperatives are in line for more than $400 million in federal loans.
The total includes a $325 million loan to Bismarck-based Basin Electric Power Cooperative. Basin has been seeking federal help to build a coal-fired power plant in northeastern Wyoming.
The delegation says the Central Power Electric Cooperative is getting a loan of more than $55 million for its transmission system, and Verendrye Electric Cooperative is getting a $23.6 million loan to build or improve more than 100 miles of distribution lines.
The delegation says the loans come from the Agriculture Department's Rural Development program.
