FARGO (AP) - North Dakota State University officials are preparing to house up to 300 students in hotels when school starts in the fall.

NDSU spokesman Rian Nostrum says the school typically places students in overflow housing each fall, but campus officials are preparing for more than usual this year. About 40 students stayed in hotels last year.

Nostrum says the demand for housing is fueled by an expected increase in enrollment, and more interest from returning students to live on campus.

NDSU had a record enrollment last fall with 12,527 students. School officials are expecting to top that number again this year.
