FARGO (AP) - Moe Gibbs, the former Barnes County jailer sentenced to life without parole for the killing of college student Mindy Morgenstern, has been transferred from the Cass County Jail to the state penitentiary.
Warden Tim Schuetzle said Gibbs will go through an evaluation period, as do other new inmates, with a medical screening and other tests.
"He'll be placed in our orientation-reception unit, where he'll stay for 30 days," Schuetzle said.
"At the end of that 30 days, we'll assess him and give him a risk score. Mostly likely because of his lengthy sentence, he'll be classified as a maximum security inmate," Schuetzle said.
Gibbs was sentenced to life without parole for killing Morgenstern, 22, of New Salem, last year. On Thursday, he was ordered to serve another 15 years for assaults on Valley City jail inmates and for a 2004 rape in Fargo.
