In a recent letter to the editor, Mike Quinn of Hazen brought out the fact that Bush was elected president largely because of religious reasons and people let emotion decide their votes. The same thing happened in Iowa, where Huckabee won because Iowa is in the Bible belt.
Religion is beginning to play way too big a part in U.S. elections - after all, our country was founded on the principal of separation of church and state.
The French writer Voltaire once said that when there are only two religious beliefs in a country, they are always at each others' throats, which has been proven time and time again down through the ages.
In America we have so many different religions that they tend to get along.
What's dangerous about the world today is that one or another religion tries to set itself up as the only true one, such as Islam is trying to do.
