As we sit back with our eyes closed, our heads in the sand and our mouths shut, the federal government is taking control over our lives and our freedoms. The government that now control a lot of big business (including the media) is pressing to control our health care, is telling our CEOs how much they can get paid and is controlling who is employed and who is not.
Voters are being intimidated (ACORN, name changed to Community Organizers International, has been investigated, convicted and paid fines for voter intimidation). Our Congressmen and -women are voting on things they know very little about, and they continue to rob us of our freedoms.
Have we forgotten this used to be a democratic society? This used to be a free country. Capitalism is what made this country great and is the only way it will be salvaged. It will never be "fixed" with government handouts, trillions of dollars of debt and higher taxes for all of us.
Shouldn't we learn from what is happening in Iran? The voters were intimidated before the election and physically abused and murdered after the election. The government-controlled media is told to keep out by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The election results, whether legitimate or not, will stand. If anyone openly challenges, they are persecuted. This is what happens when one man or one government has total control.
What has happened in Iran is happening in the United States. Is anybody really trying to fix the United States, is anybody really trying to fix our economy, and is anyone trying to put the unemployed back to work? The real question is: Do they really want to fix the United States of America? It appears the mission is to get as many people as possible dependent on the federal government so policy can be dictated rather than voted on.
We are sitting back and allowing it to happen. I am writing this letter now, because if we keep going in this direction, in the near future, I will not be safe writing letters and expressing my opinion.
Enjoy your Independence Day celebration. This is the day our brave soldiers have died to protect and preserve. This is the day we pledge allegiance to the United States of America.
