What happens to a felon Senator?

Sen. Ted Stevens, found guilty of seven felony charges - what does this mean? So, he is above the law? Why isn't he barred from running for re-election,and a seat as senator with all the benefits? He needs to leave empty-handed. The average person would.

If someone else has a felony on their record, there could be jail time. Their life is hard, getting a job, going to college, getting loans, renting apartments - the list goes on.

So what will the senator get? Will he stay in the senate voting on bills for you and me?
