Teresa Marie Kalal, 52, Lincoln, died March 26, 2012, in a Bismarck hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jake Kincaid officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Cremation has taken place and no visitation will be held.
Teresa Toay was born Jan. 25, 1960, to Bill and Marg (Headland) Toay in Jamestown. At the age of 9, her family moved to Grand Forks and she graduated from Red River High School in 1978. Following graduation, she attended East Grand Forks Area Vocational Technical College. She worked for the Grand Forks County WIC program until 1997. She met and then married Frank Kalal on June 23, 1990, in Grand Forks, where they lived and worked until 1997 and then moved to Bismarck. Together, they had two children. She worked for Medcenter One as a clerk for five years and then went to work at Burleigh County as an eligibility worker up until the time of her death.
She was active in the VFW and president of the Auxiliary for five years. She was also active in First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of PAC at Wachter Middle School.
She is survived by her husband, Frank, Lincoln; her daughters, Shaunna Kidd, Minneapolis, and Antonia Kalal, Lincoln; her sons, William (Kelly) Kronsberg, Grand Forks, and Ross Kalal, Lincoln; three grandchildren, Steven Schmidt, Kassandra Schmidt and Jalinna Kidd, all of Minneapolis; her parents, Bill and Marg, Bismarck; her brothers, Michael (Beth) Toay and John Toay, all of Grand Forks; her sister, Delphine (Jack) Gregoire, East Grand Forks, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Axel and Gladys Headland; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Fern Kalal; and her nephew, Shawn Toay.
