Oralie J. Melom, 73, McClusky, died Nov. 6, 2017, at her daughter’s residence in Washburn, under the care of hospice.
Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, with The Rev. Sondra Krogstad officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Turtle Lake Cemetery.
Oralie was born Aug. 13, 1944, in Bismarck, to Otto and Caroline (Schmidt) Fiedler. She was baptized on March 26, 1945, in McClusky. Oralie attended Holmes Consolidated School and the Turtle Lake Public School. She graduated from McClusky High School in 1962. She married Loren Melom on July 15, 1962, in Turtle Lake. They made their home on a farm north of McClusky for many years. Loren passed away in May 2008, and Oralie continued to make her home on the farm. She enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, and raising chickens. She also enjoyed jewelry shopping and traveling. She especially enjoyed her trip to New York City. Oralie will be remembered for her love of family and her devotion to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Randy (Michelle) Melom, McClusky, and Myles (Diana) Melom, Ashley; two daughters, Roxann Tweeten, Washburn, and Cindy (Curt) Sullivan, Nashville, Tenn.; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ervin (Delores) Fiedler, Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Carroll (Verdell) Fiedler, Donna, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Oralie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband (Loren); one brother (James Fiedler); and one son-in-law (Robert Laib).
