LaVonne Smith (Watson), 83, Bismarck, died March 10, 2018, at Missouri Valley Slope Lutheran Care Center. Services will be held at noon Thursday, March 15, at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
LaVonne was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Reinbeck, Iowa, to Elmer and Margaret (Wittgreve) Watson. She grew up in the small town where she graduated high school and then went on to business college.
She married Franklin Smith on June 24, 1965, in Grand Forks. They moved around a lot as Franklin was in the U.S. Navy. LaVonne sold Avon and made many friends doing so. She received her realtors license and sold real estate while living in Grafton.
LaVonne had many talents, one of which was knitting and crocheting. Her afghans will always be treasured.
LaVonne is survived by her husband, Franklin; daughters, Pam (Brad), Mary Ellen, Margaret; grandchildren, Chad (Stephanie), Matthew, Jacob (Shea), Kristin; and two great-grandchildren, Gyeneveve and Gavin.
She was preceded in death by her son, Wade; and granddaughter, Jennifer.
