We are honored to tell you about our mother, grandmother, and loving wife.

Jan was born to George and Betty (Nelson) Paul on July 16, 1947, in Bismarck. Jan graduated from SMCHS in 1966. She worked as a nurse aid at St. Alexius during high school and would go on to other medical jobs in the neurology departments at Q&R Clinic and St. Alexius. She proudly served in the North Dakota National Guard for eight years. Most recently she worked as a receptionist at Cloverdale Foods, a job she loved.

She married Jack Eiseman on Aug. 26, 1967, in Bismarck. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Jody Lynn and Jacque Lynn.

Through the years, Jan’s health declined but she often chose to suffer in silence. In spite of that, her servant’s heart inspired her to cook or bake for friends and neighbors. She also served for multiple events at Corpus Christi church that in return, fed her soul.

Jan was the matriarch of our family. Their home was often the hub of great food, good conversation, and lots of laughter.

Considered to be her greatest blessings, Jan leaves behind her beloved husband of 50 years, Jack Eiseman; daughter, Jody Swedberg and fiancé Dave Celski, Prior Lake, Minn., and Jacque (Bryan) Bittner, Jordan, Minn. Her absolute pride and joy were her grandchildren, Jake and Luke Swedberg, Prior Lake, Kendra, Delanie, and Carson Bittner, Jordan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Betty Paul; and her dear brother, Dennis.

She is already sorely missed by her family, including her sisters, Linda (Terry) Oswald and Connie Ebach; four nephews, TJ Oswald, Scott (Heather) Oswald, Paul Ebach, and Seth (Abby) Ebach; a great-nephew, Collin Oswald; her special dog, Molly; and very special friends, Paulette Stenzel and Betty Hastings.

Jan also leaves beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts too numerous to mention. Each held a special place in her heart.

Her wings were ready but our hearts were not.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the N.D. Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th St., Mandan, ND 58554 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
