Henrietta Mercedes (Senn) Nistler was born May 16, 1934, in Mott, to Frank and Rosa (Berger) Senn. Henrietta attended nursing school, and then worked in Obstetrics at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 36 years.

She married James Nistler, the love of her life, Aug. 22, 1956, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. In July 1990, Jim was ordained as a Catholic Deacon and he and Henrietta became part of a team of missionaries that went to Kenya, East Africa, to establish a mission sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Bismarck. They served there until June 1999.

Jim and Henrietta enjoyed their travels and visited many different countries, relatives, and places of interest. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, sewing, needle work, reading, and playing cards.

Henrietta treasured family gatherings. They were blessed with eight children, 20 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim; and children, Jaylene (Kevin) Kovash, Janel (Barry) Schalkle, Connie (Richard) Dooley, Nancy Watkins, Laurie (Jim) Schneibel, Mary (Mark) Mallus, Peggy (Todd) Mayer, Ted (Deb) Nistler.

Henrietta is preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Frank Senn; brothers, Don, Frank, Norbert, Leroy, Finian; sister, Rose; one granddaughter, Katelyn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the African Mission of the Bismarck Diocese or St. Genevieve food shelf project in Centerville, Minn.
