Greg Holzer, 59, Bismarck, died Dec. 26, 2017, unexpectedly at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Bismarck Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service.
Greg was born Jan. 15, 1958, in Bismarck to Mary Ann (Thomas) and John G. Holzer. He graduated from St Mary’s High School in 1976, and attended North Dakota State College of Science.
In 1978, Greg was hired by Edling Electric as an estimator. In 1985, he became part owner and on 1990, he was full owner, president, and CEO of the company. He was involved with the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) for over 30 years and served as NECA Dakota Chapter as president and governor from 1992-1997. Greg sold Edling Electric and retired in 2014.
During retirement Greg enjoyed travel and his home on the Missouri River. He had an outgoing and gregarious personality and often struck up conversations with strangers who became true friends. He was a devoted and generous stepfather, brother, son, and friend and will be greatly missed.
Greg is survived by his mother; stepson, Bryan Odegaard; and siblings, Charlotte (Steve) Spiss, Kathy (Merl) Paaverud, Nancy (Dennis) Smith, Carol (Wayne) Skarie, Jim (Teresa) Holzer, Mary (Jerry) Fisher, and Richard Holzer. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his dear loyal friends, Richard and Ellen Farley.
Greg was preceded in death by his father.
