George Herauf, 80, Bismarck, died Sept. 9, 2017, peacefully with his family at his side at CHI St. Alexius Health. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service at 6:30 p.m.
George was born June 30, 1937, in Dickinson, to John and Ceclia Herauf. George married Florence Dukart in 1959. George worked as a heavy equipment operator and a greeter at Walmart in Dickinson. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and took pride in a well-manicured lawn.
George is survived by Florence, his wife of 58 years; his sons, Jeff (Jacky) and Terry (Tammie), both of Brighton, Colo., Randy (Ellen) Phoenix, Ariz., and Rick (Imee) Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ida Perzinski, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his son, Danny; his parents, John and Cecilia; his brothers, Joe, Tony, Val, Pius, Alfred and Herb; two infant brothers; and sisters, Katie, Eleanor, Mary Ann and Irene.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donation to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. The family would like to thank the staff at CHI St. Alexius for their care and dedication.
