Darlene D. Grosche, 83, passed away peacefully Nov. 13, 2017, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Bismarck Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
Darlene D. Grosche was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Minot, to Kenneth M. Drew and Thelma N. (Collins) Drew. Darlene married Donald Allen Grosche on April 12, 1952. She was mother to six children, grandmother to 10, and great-grandmother to nine. Darlene attended Minot High School.
She went to school for cosmetology and eventually owned her own salon, Hill Crest Beauty Shop in Minot. She later moved to Salem, Ore., where she went to college later in life. She graduated from Chemeketa Community College in 1980, and became an underwriter for Country Companies in Salem. She continued her education and received five Insurance Designations and her insurance agents license and worked in the insurance industry until her retirement. She was a long-time member of the National Association of Insurance Women, and was president of the Salem chapter for three years. Darlene was also a member of the Independent Insurance Agents Association until she moved to Bismarck in September 1997, to live out her retirement years.
Darlene was a very talented woman who loved to color, do latch hook, and knit. She loved to play bingo, watch John Wayne movies, and to spend time with her family and her friend, Leann.
Darlene will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
Darlene's loving family includes: her sons, Ronald (Jean), Florida, Kerry (Denise), West Virginia, Gaylon (Diana), Oregon, and her daughter, Holly (Lloyd) Winterberg, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Stephanie Mitchell, Jessica Cotugno, Kristina Miller, Darren, Kerry, and Grant Grosche; her four step-grandchildren; and all her great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Allan Carl Grosche and Patrick Donald Grosche; and three brothers, James, Robert, and Daniel Reinier.
