Northern Plains Dance’s annual holiday production of "The Nutcracker" will be held Friday through Sunday at the Belle Mehus Auditorium in downtown Bismarck.

"The Nutcracker" features more than 130 performers, including students from Northern Plains Dance and Bismarck/Mandan community members, alongside professional dancers from around the country. Megan Dickinson, formerly with Pennsylvania Ballet, will perform the role of Sugar Plum Fairy; Richard Villaverde, from BalletX in Philadelphia, Penn., will perform the role of Nutcracker Prince; and John Frazer, a dancer with Ballet Idaho, will perform the role of Herr Drosselmeyer. Faith Hoke, a senior at Legacy High School, will perform the role of Snow Queen. Local student Macie Grendahl will perform the role of Clara.

A new set for the opening scene of Act II will be unveiled.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday,  2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
