A pair of interactive grocery shopping tours will focus on how to improve nutrition while saving money.

Burleigh County’s NDSU Extension Service will offer the “Shopping Matters” tours Monday and Tuesday through its Family Nutrition Program.

The tours will demonstrate how to “shop smart” by reading food labels, comparing prices and learning how to get the most for your money. Shoppers will learn to identify whole grains and buy fruits and vegetables on a budget.

All tour participants will receive a reusable shopping bag, calculator, shopping guide and recipes. SNAP and WIC recipients will be entered for a $10 Dan’s Supermarket gift card.

Shopping Matters tours will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Dan’s Supermarket South, 835 S. Washington St. in Bismarck, and at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dan’s Supermarket, 500 Burlington St. S.E. in Mandan.

Since space is limited, preregistration is required. To sign up for the tour, contact Peggy Netzer at Peggy.netzer@ndsu.edu or call 221-6865.
