For the first time in more than a decade, a sailboat regatta returns to Lake Sakakawea on Aug. 24.
The event will be headquartered at Fort Stevenson State Park’s de Trobriand Bay with races starting at noon.
Spectators will have a good view of the event from the guardhouse lawn, and the park will also be having its annual beach party later with activities beginning at 5 p.m. Billy D and the Crystals will be providing dance music from 7:30 p.m. until midnight.

There will be a captains’ meeting at 9 a.m. on Aug. 23, and a race clinic at 7:30 p.m. at the de Trobriand Marina gathering hall. There will be some transient slip rentals available for the weekend. Contact the park for information and prices.
