October holds many fundraising events for Bismarck-Mandan's no-kill shelter, the Central Dakota Humane Society.

The organization will host an exhibit at the Tri-Season Holiday Fair Saturday at the Bismarck Civic Center.

At noon Sunday, pet owners are encouraged to bring their furry friends to St. George’s Episcopal Church, 601 N. Fourth St., for the church’s Seventh Annual Blessing of the Pets. Non-food donations will be collected to benefit CDHS.

Oct. 12, the Bismarck Animal Clinic and Hospital in conjunction with CDHS, will host their first Dachshund Dash. Registration begins at 1 p.m. and racing begins at 2. The race will take place at Bismarck Animal Clinic and Hospital, 1414 E. Calgary Ave. A donation is suggested for registration and hotdogs, chips and soda will be served. All proceeds will benefit CDHS.

From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 24 CDHS’s Second Annual Beer Fest will take place at the Harvest Brazilian Grill, 308 W. Main St., Mandan.

At the fundraiser, attendees will be able to sample beer and Brazilian Grill appetizers. A Halloween costume contest as well as a silent auction will be held.

Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at CDHS by calling (701)-667-2020 or online on the event’s page at CDHS.net.

Dakota Zoo in cooperation with CDHS will host Zoo Boo from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Dakota Zoo.

CDHS is located 2.5 miles north of Mandan on Highway 1806. Presently they are caring for 50 dogs and 70 cats.

For more information about any of these events, adoption or volunteering, call (701)-667-2020 or visit CDHS.net.
