North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple's Republican convention challenger says he won't run against Dalrymple in the June GOP primary.
Paul Sorum told Republican convention delegates of his decision Sunday. Republicans are finishing their weekend state convention in Bismarck.
Sorum told delegates, "We have one candidate now. We need to get behind Jack."
Sorum challenged Dalrymple for the Republican convention endorsement Saturday. The governor defeated Sorum with 71 percent of the vote.
Sorum said state spending has gone up too much during Dalrymple's time in North Dakota government.
Sorum said Sunday he believes Republicans are "starting to rally around" principles of limited government.
Republicans are already expecting primary races in June for the party's nominations for the U.S. Senate and House.
