A company operating a natural gas plant in McKenzie County is looking to expand its facility to handle expectations of significant future growth in North Dakota’s oil patch.

North Dakota Public Service Commission members agreed Wednesday to set an August hearing on the expansion of the Wild Basin Gas Plant and Crude Handling Facility operated by Oasis Midstream Services LLC about 6 miles northeast of Watford City.

The proposed expansion would increase processing capacity at the plant by 265,000 million cubic feet per day beyond the 80,000 million cubic feet per day of existing capacity.

Oasis tentatively plans to begin construction this fall and have the expansion operational by November 2018.

A hearing on the project will be held in August in Watford City.
