FARGO -- A reporter for The Forum was escorted out of a Wednesday morning meeting between Fargo-Moorhead Flood Diversion Authority officials, Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., Maj. Gen. Richard Kaiser, new commander of the Mississippi Valley Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other Army Corps officials.

The meeting was being held in a meeting room of the Fargo Public Library. A press conference was planned for after the meeting. The Forum felt the meeting should be public so tried to attend.

The Forum reporter estimated there were three dozen people inside the meeting, including about six members of the Flood Diversion Authority, made up of elected officials from Fargo, Moorhead, Cass and Clay counties.

The $2.2 billion diversion project to protect Fargo-Moorhead from flooding is embroiled in a lawsuit with Minnesota to stop its construction. The governors of North Dakota and Minnesota have agreed to form a task force to try to resolve the dispute so it can proceed.
