The Mandan Visitors Committee Thursday recommended giving $146,000 in Visitors Funds to the Mandan School District to help replace its gym floor and bleachers.
Bids came in for the projects at just more than $377,000.
School officials said the gym floor is the original from the 1950s, when the high school first opened.
The bleachers have not been upgraded since the mid-1980s and do not meet code, said school superintendent Mike Bitz.
Mandan Visitor Funds are collected from restaurant and hotel taxes. The funding supports visitor features and attractions.
City administrator Jim Neubauer said the funding recommended totals about 40 percent of the projects’ bids.
The Mandan City Commission will make a final decision on the Visitor Fund money on April 16, he said.
