Karl Lembke, president of the Bismarck School Board, announced Wednesday he will seek re-election.

Lembke, an insurance agent, was first elected in 2014 to served on the board. During his tenure, two new elementary schools and a new high school have opened. Expansion of middle schools and two high schools are in process to address the increased student population.

Lembke, who has three children with his wife, Michelle, attributes communication with the community as a key to successful work on the school board.

"I grew up in Bismarck and my kids are growing up in Bismarck," he said. "I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and excited for the potential to continue serving this great community to provide the best education for the future of our Bismarck kids."

Lembke, who graduated from the University of Mary with a degree in business administration, said addressing the elementary facility needs and school funding will continue to be important issues for the school board.
