Police received another report of a suspicious person in northwest Mandan, and this time an unknown person was inside a home.

Mandan Police Sgt. Jay Gruebele said a woman on the 1000 block of 27th Street Northwest reported at 9:42 a.m. Thursday that she woke to see a dark figure standing in her bedroom doorway at approximately 4 a.m. She screamed and yelled for the person to leave, and the figure disappeared.

Gruebele said there were no signs of forced entry at the home, and police are not certain how the unknown person may have entered the home.

The home is approximately three blocks away from the location of reports earlier in the week of an unknown person dressed in dark clothing lurking around a woman’s house.

In those reports, a woman on the 1000 block of 24th Street Northwest reported at midnight Sunday that she saw a stranger in dark clothing and a dark mask near her home when she went outside to get something from a vehicle, At 1:30 a.m. Monday, she reported seeing a dark figure outside the window of her basement apartment. The person ran away when she screamed.

Officers canvassed the area after the woman’s reports, and others in the neighborhood reported seeing a man in dark clothing in the neighborhood. One neighbor reported chasing an unknown man toward Wal-Mart.

Gruebele said police are investigating all of the incidents. The police department asks people to report anything unusual in the area. He said it is important to call police immediately in such situations rather than wait to get officers a better chance of finding and identifying the suspicious person.

Gruebele also advised people to keep their homes and cars locked.

Anyone with information should call the Mandan Police Department at 701-667-3250.
