In two separate instances, domestic disputes led to charges of child neglect in Bismarck.

Glen Yellowbird, 34, of Bismarck, and Vanessa Frank, 37, of Bismarck both face felony child neglect charges after police, responding to domestic dispute calls Sunday, allegedly found their respective houses unkempt.

Officers arrived at Frank’s home on the 3000 block of Manchester Street at 9:43 a.m. Sunday, said Bismarck Police Sgt. Mark Buschena.

In the kitchen and one of the bedrooms shared by two of the three children, Buschena said officers found gnats, along with moldy dishes and odors. There was a narrow path amid 4-foot-high piles of clothing that led to the bedroom, which contained a mattress on the floor.

Later in the day, responding to a report of a fight between 4 and 4:40 p.m. at the 4000 block of Gates Drive, police entered Yellowbird’s home to find moldy food and dishes covering the kitchen counters, food and clothing on the floors, feces on the bathroom floor and empty alcohol bottles in the room of a 4-year-old boy, Buschena said.

There was also an open paint can in a closet, a dirty litterbox for the home’s two cats and police allegedly smelled marijuana upon arrival.
