Bismarck Police are looking for a caller reportedly posing as an officer contacting residents about missing court.

Officer Pat Renz said the caller styled himself as Sgt. Kevin Price of the Bismarck County Sheriff's Department's warrants and citations division. No such officer or department exists. The caller reportedly phoned a resident regarding two misdemeanor warrants for missing court in a grand jury case and asked them to meet him at the Burleigh County Courthouse.

"He didn't ask for any money. He didn’t ask for them to send him any money," Renz said. "So that was a little odd, what his intentions were."

Police were not able to reach the caller from the 701 area code number he left, Renz said. The initial call recipient reported the alleged scam after 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Criminal charges related to the matter would include fraud and impersonating a law enforcement officer, Renz said. Residents who receive similar calls are encouraged to contact police.
