Bismarck Police are investigating a report of sexual assault of a middle school girl which prompted a “stranger danger” alert from Bismarck Public Schools Friday.

Bismarck Police Officer Pat Renz said the assault of the girl by an adult male reportedly occurred between 3 and 4:30 p.m. Thursday along Grimsrud Drive near Grimsrud Elementary. The assault involved physical contact, Renz said, but the victim did not need medical attention as a result of the incident.

Police have no suspects at this time.

“We don’t feel parents in the area should be overly concerned about their childrens’ welfare and should take the same precautions they normally do to keep their children safe,” Renz said.

These recommendations include talking to children about being aware of their surroundings, reporting any happenings that concern them to their parents immediately, and, when walking anywhere in town, staying on well-traveled routes and sidewalks, rather than taking shortcuts, Renz said.

The student reported the incident to school officials on Friday, and police were informed at 10 a.m. Friday.
