A Mandan woman reported being assaulted after leaving her home early Sunday morning.
Mandan police responded to a call from a local hospital around 2:30 a.m. asking them to speak to a woman. She had bruises on her face, shoulder, shin and neck.
The woman said she had left her home around midnight to walk to a convenience store, according to a police release. While walking near Third Street Southeast and Riverwood Avenue Southeast, she said she heard a male voice yell. When she turned to look, she was hit in the face and fell.
While the woman was on the ground, she said a male choked her until she passed out. When she woke up, there was no one around, she said.
The woman said she had seen two white males in their mid-20s to early 30s. She did not recognize either of them and said they smelled strongly of alcohol.
The woman was treated for her injuries and released.
