Mandan police continue to investigate a Saturday morning shooting that injured one man.

“It’s complex,” Mandan Police Lt. Pat Haug said Monday evening. “I’m not quite ready to release anything yet because of the complexity of it.”

The shooting incident was not an officer-involved shooting, he added.

Haug also said it’s too early to say if a crime is involved.

Police are still conducting interviews and follow-ups, he said, with new information to come soon.

The injured party is a 22-year-old man who was shot in the leg and is likely to be released soon from the hospital, according to Haug.

Officers had responded around 6 a.m. Saturday to a report of shots fired on the 800 block of Poplar Street in Mandan. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police reported.
