MANDAN, N.D. - A man already scheduled for an August jury trial for unauthorized use of a motorcycle in Bismarck is also suspected of stealing a motorcycle from the Collision Center in Mandan on Tuesday, according to Mandan Police.
The new arrest warrant, issued Wednesday, charges Robert Wayne Berg, 37, with theft of property, a Class C felony.
Police said they were still trying to locate Berg Wednesday evening.
He allegedly took a worker’s motorcycle from the Collision Center parking lot Tuesday morning.
Authorities used a video from the business’ surveillance camera to identify the suspect.
The stolen motorcycle was recovered around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Skyway Park Village Trailer Court in Bismarck. It was not damaged and had apparently run out of gas, Mandan police said.
The investigation determined that Berg had visited a friend in the neighborhood of the trailer park. He was identified as the person in the video and was wearing the same clothing as was seen in the video, the Police statement said.
Berg had been arrested May 17 for the unauthorized use of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor, police said.
He allegedly drove a motor cycle off the Dvorak Motors lot without talking to the salesperson and/or getting to drive the motorcycle.
He is scheduled for a jury trial in that case.
