A 27-year-old man was extradited from Minnesota to Bismarck to face charges in the rape of a teenage girl last year.
Robert Williamson made his first appearance in court on Wednesday morning, and Judge Thomas Schneider set bond at $100,000.
A complaint filed in South Central District Court charges Williamson with two counts of gross sexual imposition and one count of luring minors by computer.
The accompanying police affidavit alleges that Williamson had sex with a 14-year-old girl he met online in June 2015. Williamson allegedly messaged back and forth with the girl, picked her up in Lincoln and had sex with her.
The victim identified Williamson from a photo lineup in April, according to the affidavit.
In an interview with police in April, Williamson admitted to having the username with which the victim communicated, according to the affidavit. He also allegedly admitted to driving a yellow Ford Mustang — the car the girl said picked her up in Lincoln. However, he told police all females he met while using the social media application were over 18, according to the affidavit.
Though his address is listed in St. Cloud, Minn., Williamson said in court that he lives in Fargo. He contended he was not a flight risk and agreed to apply for an attorney.
If convicted on the charges, Williamson could face a maximum of life in prison.
