A Bismarck man is accused of a sexual relationship with a teenage girl, and his mother is charged with deleting possible phone evidence.

Brandon Metzger, 23, is charged with felony corruption of a minor. His mother, 48-year old Paula Metzger, faces felony tampering with physical evidence.

Court documents say the girl told police she and Brandon Metzger had sex. He reportedly admitted to police "he made a mistake" and that he was intoxicated.

Paula Metzger allegedly did a factory reset on her son's phone as well as placing her phone's subscriber identity module card into her son's phone.

Police had obtained Brandon Metzger's cellphone as evidence from his probation officer, who reportedly received the phone from Paula Metzger.

His cell phone's data was reportedly wiped with limited information available.

Paula Metzger allegedly told police she had dropped her son's phone, losing the battery and SIM card, so she put her SIM card inside and completed a factory reset.

Court documents say she told police she reset the device "because that's what you do to start the phone."
