MANDAN, N.D. — A 23-year-old Mandan man was stabbed in the left forearm by his girlfriend, Mallory Ann Sample, 20, late Tuesday night in their northwest Mandan home, police reported.
Sample has been charged with Class C felony aggravated assault, according to court records. She was arraigned Wednesday. Future court hearing dates are pending.
At around 10:24 p.m., Mandan Police said they received a call from the St. Alexius Medical Center emergency room reporting a man had been assaulted with a folding style knife, said Detective Sgt. Jay Gruebele. The victim had a one-inch laceration.
“It started as a verbal fight,” Gruebele said. “She (the girlfriend) then displayed a folding style knife. After the knife was displayed the boyfriend and girlfriend struggled for the knife. She stabbed him in the left forearm.”
The knife had been in the woman’s pocket, Gruebele said. She was arrested for domestic aggravated assault and remains in police custody.
Gruebele said the man had someone drive him to the hospital where he was treated and released.
