A father and son face identical felony charges after a traffic stop reportedly found 210 pounds of marijuana and other drug-related items Sunday morning just west of Mandan on Interstate 94.

Twenty-four-year-old Christopher Conkey, of Grants Pass, Ore., and 53-year-old Robert Smith, of Vancouver, Wash., are charged with three counts each of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and another specific to methamphetamine. A Morton County press release reported Conkey, the driver, told the deputy they were transporting fan gear to the Super Bowl in Minneapolis.

After observing "indicators of criminal activity," the deputy asked to search the vehicle, which Conkey denied.

A K-9 sniff alerted positively to narcotics in the vehicle, and a subsequent search reportedly found 210 heat-sealed bags of marijuana, five pounds of THC wax, 8 grams of meth and $2,400 cash.

The Metro Area Narcotics Task Force confiscated the items as evidence.

Both men were arrested and are held at the Burleigh-Morton County Detention Center.
