Convicted murderer Morris Brickle-Hicks filed a notice to appeal earlier this month, weeks after he was sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally stomping Misty Coffelt in 2016.
A jury convicted Brickle-Hicks at trial in September of Class AA felony murder. South Central District Judge John Grinsteiner handed down his sentence last month.
Brickle-Hicks’ attorney, James Loraas, did not return a phone message for comment.
Brickle-Hicks, 35, is incarcerated at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck.
