A Bismarck police officer was cited from a crash Saturday — the fourth one in two months involving an officer here.

North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that Bismarck Police Officer Casey Bosch, 31, of Bismarck, was northbound on South Washington Street around 10 a.m. Saturday. He attempted a U-turn for a traffic stop near the intersection with Easy Street and struck the passenger door of another northbound vehicle in the next lane.

Tara Schmitcke, 24, of Bismarck, was driving the vehicle that was struck. Twenty-six-year-old Tony Wiedmer, of Bismarck, was her passenger. No one was reported injured. Bosch's emergency lights were not activated at the time.

Bosch was cited $20 for changing lanes without regard for other traffic. Schmitcke was not cited.

The crash is at least the fifth one this winter involving a Bismarck police officer, including one as recent as April 2 and two on Feb. 8.

The Bismarck Police Department has 35 marked squad cars in its fleet, according to Bismarck Police Sgt. Mark Buschena.
