Bismarck police are investigating two unrelated burglaries where women found unknown men in their apartments.

A 35-year-old Bismarck woman reported she was sleeping in the living room of her apartment at 1109 Memorial Highway at approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday, and she awoke to find a man walking out of her apartment, Sgt. Mark Buschena said. Drawers in the apartment had been rummaged through, but nothing appeared to be missing.

She described the man as 5 feet tall, wearing a blue shirt, glasses and a ball cap, Buschena said.

An 18-year-old Bismarck woman reported she got out of the shower at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday and saw a man in the hallway of her apartment at 407 W. Century Ave., Buschena said. She screamed, and the man ran out of the apartment. Nothing was stolen from the apartment.

She described the man as being in his late 30s and of average height. He was white, had blue eyes and facial stubble that appeared to be red.

Buschena said the cases illustrate the importance of keeping doors locked even when the occupants are home.
