A Bismarck man says he was assaulted and robbed of his shoes by a group of unknown men.
Bismarck Police Sgt. Mark Buschena said a 23-year-old Bismarck man reported finding his friend, a 19-year-old Bismarck man, on the ground in Hillside Park, 1601 E. Boulevard Ave., Monday evening. The 19-year-old appeared to have been “beaten up,” the 23-year-old reported.
Buschena said the 19-year-old had injuries to his chest, stomach, back and face and had surgery for a broken jaw.
The 19-year-old said he had been walking in the park when five or six unknown men approached him and asked what was in his pocket and what was in his wallet, Buschena said. He said the man responded he didn’t have anything, and the men began punching him. He was knocked unconscious and awoke to find his $130 purple Nike shoes missing.
The 19-year-old said his assailants were black, but that is the only description he could give of them, Buschena said. The assault is believed to have occurred between 5 and 7 p.m. Monday.
The 23-year-old man who reported the assault was arrested on a warrant. He is no longer in custody.
He said the case remains under investigation. Anyone with information should call the Bismarck Police Department at (701) 223-1212 or Bismarck Area Crime Stoppers at (701) 224-TIPS (224-8477).
