A 33-year-old Mandan man was bitten by a rabid skunk Monday.

According to the Bismarck police report, the man entered a building on the 2800 block of Bismarck Expressway and felt something on his leg.

The skunk bit through his jeans to leave a gash in his leg. After the man freed himself, his coworkers killed the animal, which was sent to the state lab for testing.

The skunk tested positive for rabies. The victim is now being treated. The North Dakota Department of Health Disease Control does not believe anyone else was exposed.
